After 10 Years, Mochilla Is Back at SXSW For The Premiere of TIMELESS

the PREMIERE SCREENING OF TIMELESS
Featuring live performances with full orchestras by Mulatu Astatke, Miguel Atwood-Ferguson interpreting the music of JDilla and Arthur Verocai.
This Saturday in Austin completes a ten year cycle for Mochilla.
Way back in 2001 - with the help of a phone call from Elvis Mitchell, Keepintime: Talking Drums and Whispering Vinyl premiered at SXSW. We opened for Doug Pray’s seminal documentary “Scratch.” This weekend, a full ten years later, Mochilla is back with three 73 minute long epics.
The premiere of the Timeless Series featuring Mulatu Astatke, the music of JDilla and Arthur Verocai at the George Washington Carver Theatre on Saturday March 20th will be a premiere like no other. Instead of showing all three films back to back or indeed making a screener edit of all three films, we will be doing something historic. J.Rocc, of the World Famous Beat Junkies, and possibly the greatest DJ on the planet right now, will be djing all three films live in front of your very eyes. Using the newest Serato technology J.Rocc will be manipulating the films using vinyl on turntables to control the hi-res film files. He will also make a live megamix of all three films. As far as we know, this has never been done, so don’t miss this opportunity to see some history go down.
So it is with much of excitement and expectation that we invite all of you to come and celebrate this historic return to SXSW with Mochilla this Saturday. The screening is from 3-6pm.
The after-party is from 9pm to 1am at Malverde and will feature from Los Angeles: J.Rocc, from Cali, Colombia: Will Quantic, from Sao Paulo, Brasil: DJ Nuts, from Los Angeles and Mochilla: Coleman, from Limerick, Ireland and Mochilla: B+ as well as Austin’s own Chicken George and Sun.
