An amazing time was had by all. So let’s take a quick trip back to our wild Halloween weekend in beautiful New Orleans as we caught up with some of our favorite musicians. From future projects, inspirations, and more, these guys had no problems letting lose. And to top it all off, they also walked away with a new VTech IS9181 WiFi Internet Radio.

What’s Up With The Biz?
by Joy on Nov.23, 2009, under Behind the Scenes, Festivals, Filter, Magazines, Video, VooDoo '09
Here’s a look behind the scenes with the one and only Biz Markie. Biz was in New Orleans with us, rocking the wheels of steel on stage for the VTech/Filter kickoff party at the Howlin’ Wolf for the start of the Voodoo Music Experience weekend. He played the classics, did a little beat-box, and teased us with a few lines from “Just a Friend.” And after all was said and done, Filter TV talked a bit with the Biz to find out what he’s been up to.
So here it is, check it!

Behind the Scenes with DJ Soul Sister at Voodoo
by Joy on Nov.11, 2009, under Behind the Scenes, Events, Festivals, Filter, Magazines, VTech, Video, VooDoo '09
At the VTech/Filter Kick-Off party at the Howlin’ Wolf, New Orleans native, DJ Soul Sister took our stage with her collection of rare groove and deep funk and lead us through a vinyl journey from the 60s to the 80s.
DJ Soul Sister, the Queen of Rare Groove has been rocking parties and the airwaves since 1994. A tastemaker and authority on soul, funk, groove and more, her “Soul Power” show is the longest-running rare groove radio show in the U.S.
Here with Filter TV, we go behind the scenes with the queen in a brief interview after her set at the Howlin’ Wolf.

The Zombies Came Out To Party at Voodoo
by Joy on Nov.10, 2009, under Behind the Scenes, Events, Festivals, Filter, Magazines, Other, VTech, Video, VooDoo '09
At this year’s Voodoo Music Experience, located in New Orleans, we experienced three madcap days of outdoor art and music. With dancing elves, clowns, Kiss fans and zombies gathering en masse over Halloween weekend. The weekend kicked off with an afterparty at the Howlin’ Wolf on Thursday night sponsored by VTech with performances by DJ Soul Sister, Jay Electronica, The Knux and Biz Markie.
Here’s a behind the scenes look at The Knux. More videos soon to come.

On Friday, torrential rains drenched spectators creating a muddy bog, but spectators danced the night away to French DJ duo Justice and faced the cold and wet weather to see Eminem in his first full live performance in five years. Saturday saw a change in weather and music from local musicians Irvin Mayfield and Leon “Chocolate” Brown, while Gogol Bordello caused a frantic dance party. Halloween drew thousands of costumed spectators for Jane’s Addiction and Kiss. And a bid to break the Guinness record for largest zombie gathering (4,026) fell way short (1,701). And Sunday, the festival ended with perfect weather and performances by Widespread Panic, Lenny Kravitz, and more.
Another great year at the Voodoo Music Experience.
The Kick Off Party At The Howlin’ Wolf
by Joy on Nov.04, 2009, under Events, Festivals, Filter, Magazines, VTech, VooDoo '09
Last Thursday night, at the Howlin’ Wolf in New Orleans, VTech, in conjunction with Antics and Filter Magazine got together and threw a little kick off bash to start off the Voodoo Music Fest weekend. And with the help from some of our friends: DJ Soul Sister, Jay Electronica, The Knux and Biz Markie , it’s safe to say, we had an amazing night.
The crowds jumped and swayed to music. Soulsister got the party started with a set full of rare grooves while The Knux provided us with more upbeat rock/hip-hop tunes . The lyrical MC, Jay Electronica, followed with thought provoking rhymes and DJ Biz Markie took us home with a medley of mixed hits from the 90s and a few beatbox moments with a taste of his classic “Just A Friend.”
We came, we saw, and danced the night away. Only in New Orleans and only with VTech…
Here are a few flicks from what went on that night…
